Whether you're hosting guests for Thanksgiving, Christmas, or a long holiday weekend, creating a comfortable space can make their stay more enjoyable—and less stressful for you.
The good news? You don't need a dedicated guest suite to make visitors feel at home. With thoughtful furniture choices and a few simple updates, you can create welcoming spaces that are both functional and inviting.
At FurnitureLand, you'll find bedroom furniture, mattresses, sleeper sofas, and home furnishings from trusted brands like Bassett, Vaughan Bassett, Liberty, Ashley, and Magnussen to help you prepare your home before holiday guests arrive.
Create a Guest Bedroom That Feels Like Home
A guest bedroom should feel comfortable, uncluttered, and relaxing—not like a storage room that happens to have a bed. Creating an inviting space doesn't require a complete remodel. Instead, focus on the essentials that help guests settle in and feel welcome.
Consider including:
-Comfortable, supportive bedding
-Nightstands for phones, books, and personal items
-Good bedside lighting
-Easy access to charging outlets
-A mirror for getting ready
-Space for luggage
Simple touches like fresh linens, extra blankets, seasonal décor, and a small basket of toiletries can make guests feel cared for from the moment they arrive.
Creating a welcoming guest bedroom starts with furniture that feels warm, comfortable, and timeless. The Liberty Grandpa's Cabin Queen Sleigh Bed, Dresser & Mirror collection is designed to turn any guest room into a cozy retreat.
Crafted from select hardwoods with ash and oak veneers, its classic aged oak finish brings warmth and character to the space while offering the durability families appreciate for years of use.
Highlights include:
-Queen sleigh bed with timeless styling
-Matching dresser and large framed mirror
-Classic aged oak finish
-Spacious dovetail drawers for dependable storage
-Dust-proof construction and wood-on-wood drawer glides
-Optional coordinating chest and armoire available
Whether guests stay for one night or an entire holiday week, this collection creates a bedroom that feels comfortable, welcoming, and thoughtfully designed.
Choosing the Right Guest Mattress
A quality guest mattress doesn't need to be the most expensive mattress in your home—it simply needs to provide consistent comfort and support for a variety of sleepers.
Medium to luxury-firm mattresses tend to work well because they accommodate different sleep styles while providing balanced support and pressure relief.
When shopping for a guest room mattress, consider:
-Breathable materials for year-round comfort
-Motion isolation for couples
-Supportive foam or hybrid construction
-Pressure-relieving comfort layers
-Durable materials designed for long-term use
Even guests who only stay a few nights will appreciate waking up refreshed instead of sore.
The Serta iSeries NXG 1500 Memory Foam Luxury Firm Mattress combines cooling technology, pressure relief, and dependable support to create a restful night's sleep for a wide range of guests.
Features include:
-CoolFeel™ cover for an instantly cool sleeping surface
-Carbon Fiber Memory Foam that helps draw heat away from the body
-High-density NXG™ Memory Foam for contouring pressure relief
-Durable foam core with edge support
-Luxury firm feel that's ideal for back and stomach sleepers
-CertiPUR-US® certified foams
Whether guests are visiting during the holidays or throughout the year, a supportive mattress helps ensure they wake up rested and ready for the day ahead.
Bedroom Furniture That Adds Comfort
Comfort isn't just about the bed.
The surrounding furniture helps guests feel organized, relaxed, and at home throughout their stay.
Helpful additions include:
-Dressers for unpacking
-Nightstands with convenient storage
-Comfortable accent chairs
-Benches at the foot of the bed
-Mirrors for getting ready
-Decorative lamps for soft evening lighting
Collections from Bassett, Vaughan Bassett, Liberty, Magnussen, and Ashley make it easy to coordinate furniture that feels both functional and inviting.

Accent Tables and Lighting Make a Big Difference
Small details often have the biggest impact on a guest's experience.
Providing a convenient place to set a phone, book, or glass of water helps visitors feel more comfortable and independent.
Helpful additions include:
-Nightstands
-Accent tables
-Table lamps
-Floor lamps
-Charging stations
-Small trays for personal belongings
Warm lighting creates a relaxing atmosphere after a day of travel and helps guests feel more at home.
Give Guests a Place to Unpack
One detail guests always appreciate is having somewhere to unpack instead of living out of a suitcase.
Providing dedicated storage helps the room feel more like a true bedroom while making longer visits much more comfortable.
The Liberty Haven Hills Armoire offers generous storage while adding timeless style to any guest bedroom.
Features include:
-Two adjustable wood shelves
-Two interior drawers hidden behind cabinet doors
-Rubberwood solids with rustic birch veneers
-Soft camel beige finish
-Reeded door panels with burnished brass hardware
-Traditional styling with bracket feet and a heavy crown
Whether guests are staying for a holiday weekend or an extended visit, an armoire provides plenty of space for clothing, luggage, and personal belongings while keeping the room neat and organized.
Add the Finishing Touches
Once the furniture is in place, a few thoughtful details can make guests feel genuinely welcome.
Simple finishing touches include:
-Fresh towels
-Cozy throw blankets
-Seasonal greenery or flowers
-Bottled water and light snacks
-Phone chargers
-Holiday candles or subtle seasonal scents
-A favorite local coffee or tea selection
These small gestures create a warm, welcoming atmosphere that friends and family will remember long after the holidays are over.
